As an older (not ex) athlete I struggled with pain and doubt for 3 years while trying to come back from a hip fracture.  I can tell you I know how it feels to believe you will never be the same and never be able to enjoy the things you love doing.  Also, by the time I was cleared to resume normal activities at 41 years old, 5’9” I weighed in at 260lbs and measured 29% body fat. I had a hard time looking at myself in the mirror.

As a husband and dad of 2 teens and 3 dogs, I know the struggle is real. We’re tired and short on time, life is sometimes chaotic. Finding time to regain your health, lose some fat, build some muscle and strength is like pulling teeth from a lion.  And for some of us, scheduling time to take care of ourselves can be viewed as selfish.  Oh, and lets not forget that making certain changes to the menu (adding kale) can be met with some resistance.

So, as a family man trying to recover from a devastating injury, I googled everything and developed paralysis by analysis and failed to launch. Then I became desperate, next thing I knew I was: trying hard to follow diets, completely restricting myself from my favorite foods, feeling tired from too many workouts and becoming even more confused about how to exercise the right way.
What did I learn from this painful period in my life? How did I get my Swagger back?
  • Being more THANKFUL helped me embrace my struggle and realize that this was bigger than me. Overcoming my struggle will not only make me stronger but it will also benefit others.
  • Taking care of yourself is not selfish. The emotional benefits alone from being healthy and strong made me a better husband and dad
  • Rome wasn’t built in a day nor will I.  I needed to be realistic with my expectations and enjoy the journey
  • Putting a premium on my sleep fixed a lot. This isn’t going to work if your hormones are out of whack.  Adequate quality sleep is the beginning to being hormonally correct and it’s non-negotiable
  • Training and nutrition needs to fit into my lifestyle and not the other way around.  This breeds consistency
  • I only need to win at eating 80% of the week.  So I can eat my favorite foods.  This breeds compliance
  • Fat loss is a natural result of performance-based training. Focusing on performance will take you further than focusing on how you look. Gymnasts and sprinters don’t train for their looks. There physique is a byproduct of their mindset, training, nutrition and recovery protocol.  Feel Better, Function Better, Look Better

Thank you for reading and If my struggles resonate with you, I’m here for you. I’ll be your guide to becoming more accomplished in your everyday physical activity and exercise regimen.  I’ll help cut through the confusion about everything in the fitness and nutrition industry and give you the next step you need to become a better you.
I am honored that my clients have come to me for help. That’s why I approach everything I do with care and precision. (Always coaching you as you’re still a new client)

Training Philosophy
Just as athletes strive to improve their performance through effective training techniques, so too can you benefit from an optimally planned training program designed to develop a healthier, better shaped body with excellent performance qualities.
Scientific Background
My experience has allowed me to understand organizational skills and build step by step systems that provide structure for long-term athlete (everyday to competitive) development programs.  Also, this experience has allowed me to assemble what I believe to be the necessary and specific components of a training session that target injury-prone areas and maximize skills necessary to succeed in living an active to high performance lifestyle after the age of 35.  My methods have come from in-the-trenches coaching with my clients and mentoring from industry recognized fitness professionals.  My training systems have evolved from years of clinics, conferences, continuing education, facility visits, phone conversations and discussions in private Facebook groups.
Practical Background
My training methods provide long-term fitness and performance improvements for everyday people who want the same things (improved body composition, strength, conditioning and mobility) that athletes do.
